With the arrival of Pachi Rivero and Yves Parlier’s 1876, each of the Spanish participants in the Transat Jacques Vabre have now finished the race. The FNOB racing team has successfully completed the challenge of this offshore regatta.
At 18:07:45, GMT, 1876 with Pachi Rivero and Yves Parlier crossed the finish line in Puerto Limon. With this arrival, all of the four Spanish sailors and the two Spanish boats in the race are now safely in port. Bubi Sansó, Alex Pella, Pepe Ribes and Pachi Rivero have set a milestone in the Transat Jacques Vabre, and the two FNOB sailing team yachts, W Hotels and 1876 have been part of the largest Spanish participation in the legendary double-handed crossing of the Atlantic.
It has been a very tough race, but a very positive experience. For both Alex and Pepe, with their fifth place, and Pachi, who has gained 4,700 nautical miles of experience and has overcome a chain of technical problems in the middle of the Atlantic, this race is a great step towards the Barcelona World Race next year. The next challenge ahead is the sailing record between New York and Barcelona next April. Next Monday we will publish an article covering the interesting consequences of this thrilling race.
