Groupe Bel with Kito de Pavant and François Gabart has finished the Transat Jacques Vabre in second place. The French skippers took 16 days, 4 hours, 2 minutes and 30 seconds to cross the Atlantic from Le Havre, in Normandy, France to Puerto Limon in Costa Rica. The entry’s average theoretical speed was 12.18 knots.

Holding the third spot on the podium, but still racing are Mike Golding and Bubi Sansó, who have this morning decided to play their invisible card. Michel Desjoyeaux and Jérémie Beyou’s Foncia is in fourth, having come out of hiding, now just 86 miles from the finish but grappling with a lull and sailing at just five knots, complicating the skippers’ final stretch.

The two Spanish entries, W Hotels and 1876, continue to battle on in the Caribbean Sea to defend their positions. Alex Pella and Pepe Ribes’ entry is fifth, although the team have dropped back closer to Veolia Environnement, now 47 miles away. Despite the lull Foncia is fighting with, the entry is perhaps too far away to catch up with at 370 miles ahead of their bow. Pachi Rivero and Yves Parlier is sailing in ninth place, 100 miles ahead of Aviva, now overtaken by Akena Verandas and 170 miles ahead of Artemis, the final entry in the class.
