Iberdac-GAES Solidaria, 200 miles from the finish

Gran Prix

Pilar Pasanau

GAES Solidaria/Gran Prix del Atlántico

Spanish yachtswoman Pilar Pasanau is now some 200 miles from the Atlantic Grand Prix finishing line. The sailor is sailing in some difficult conditions, with a distinct lack of breeze in the area, although there is still a good chance that she may finish before the maximum finishing period.

While Antonio Almeria's boat Infoveleros.com is on track for the third step on the podium of the Atlantic Grand Prix 2010, the remaining yachts are focusing on crossing the finishing line before the maximum finishing period, laid out by the regatta committee. The light winds that the transatlantic fleet have found themselves in have been hampering the efforts of the yachts to reach Santo Domingo.

In the recent position report at 16:00 (CET), Infoveleros.com was just 90 miles from the Sano Domingo finish. The remaining entries are some 200 miles away. If Antonio Almeria manages to maintain his current speed for the next 18 hours, he will croos the finishing line in third place in the overall rankings for the regatta.

At 200 miles from Santo Domingo are Magraner's Acrobat and Iberdac-Gaes Solidaria,  with Pilar Pasanau, both with the chance of finishing the regatta within the maximum finishing period for the race. Pilar Pasanau's Iberdac-Gaes has put the Vaques island to starboard and is now sailing to the south of the island of Puerto Rico, having just passed the edge of Guayama. Amador Magraner's Acrobat is also advancing at a steady pace, although somewhat limited by the breeze conditions, along with the other boats. Francesc Vives Papaya at 1070 miles from the finish now has no chances of crossing the line within the maximum finishing period.
