Skipper Pilar Pasanau is under 600 miles from the finish line of the Gran Prix del Atlántico in Santo Domingo. Lucio Pérez’s Macaco will claim victory of the VI Gran Prix del Atlántico Regata España – República Dominicana. A number of boats in the fleet have had to stop in the islands of Antigua and Guadalupe to restock water and food.
After several days of sailing in light winds with large windless pot holes, Iberdac-GAES Solidaria has once again picked up enough speed and a good rhythm to move closer to the port of Sansouci in República Dominicana. The Catalan skipper is just 600 miles from the finish line after only 30 days of sailing since the fleet set off from Puerto Sherry, in Cádiz.
On Tuesday 9th Alex Quer’s Niob Sexto Cheyenne crossed the finish line at 11.42 and 18 seconds Spanish time, as the real time winner of this edition. Lucio Perez’s Macaco was the next to follow at 13.40 Spanish time and as the compensated time winner.
The rest of the fleet is still racing and the most likely boat next to finish will be Infoveleros.com that is currently about 500 millas away.
Despite some of the boats having had to make a short stop this week in Antigua to restock provisions, Pilar Pasanau informed the race organisation that she was heading directly to Santo Domingo with enough food and water for the next few days of the competition, and without needing to stop.
Pilar’s Iberdac-GAES Solidaria is currently at lattitude 18º 24’N, similar to Infoveleros.com. Estrella Maris II is also in the same area.
