The 4th Deputy Mayor, Director for Quality of Life and Equality and Sports
for the Barcelona City Council, Mrs. Maite Fandos, has been appointed
President of the Barcelona Foundation for Ocean Sailing (FNOB).
The 4th Deputy Mayor, Director for Quality of Life and Equality and Sports
for the Barcelona City Council, Mrs. Maite Fandos, has been appointed
President of the Barcelona Foundation for Ocean Sailing (FNOB). Her
appointment has been announced during the celebration of the FNOB'S Board of
trustees which took place at the Barcelona Town Hall.
The FNOB is the institution that created and organizes the Barcelona World
Race, since its first edition in 2007. This round the world nonstop sailing
competition which starts and finishes in Barcelona, is one of the most
relevant transoceanic races on the IMOCA's international calendar and
represents a must for any sailor.
The FNOB is based on three main strategies: sport, industry and technology
and communication, and its aim is to encourage a culture for the sea. These
areas are the framework to promote the Barcelona World Race Educational
Programme and support and work together with the scientific and university
communities (Upf, UB, URLL, UPC, CsiC, ...) as well as other institutions
(CIRE, IMEB...).
