Francesc Terrón i Cusí, municipal manager of the Institut Barcelona Esports, has been appointed Managing Director of the FNOB by the Foundation’s Board of Patrons. The new director replaces Xosé Carlos Fernández. Terrón’s principle challenge with regards to the  FNOB’s agenda, is the organisation of the fourth edition of the Barcelona World Race.

The Barcelona World Race 2022-2023 has been granted the status of an event of exceptional interest by the Spanish Congress of Deputies, meaning that sponsors will gain tax benefits once they support the regatta. The ample time prior to the race in which the tax relief has been granted, enables the sustainability of the round the world sailing event in its fourth edition, an essential condition to guarantee its viability.

Terrón has held various management positions at the Barcelona City Council and will combine his present responsibilities as manager of the Institut Barcelona Esports with those of the FNOB.
