Solo yachtswoman Pilar Pasanau climbs to provisional second place in the rankings on board Iberdac-GAES Solidaria. Pilar has impressively scaled up the rankings in the last day's run, climbing from seventh to second place after handicaps. Iberdac-GAES Solidaria is now some 3,030 miles from the Santo Domingo finishing line.
The Atlantic Grand Prix organising committee have published the provisional rankings following the yachts rounding of the mark at the Marina Rubicon and also the real time results, with Pilar Pasanau in second and fourth place respectively.
A great second place
Yesterday we saw Pilar opting to move closer to the trades by going west between Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and today we have seen that strategy pay off. Right now, Pilar is holding second place in the provisional rankings for the race, with handicaps applied, and is behind the Spanish entry from Tenerife Macaco.
The bulk of the fleet also opted for a western course, as chosen by Pilar, with the aim of catching the trades as early as possible as they head down to Santouci, in the Dominican Republic.
Niob Sexto Cheyenne is still the real-time leader, with Spaniard Alex Quer on board, 2,779 miles from the finish, with Lucio Pérez’s Macaco behind, some 2,822 miles from Santo Domingo.
